Shasta Pulp Mill Lime Kiln Installation

In 1981, the pulp mill installed a lime kiln to replace the calciner, which had been used in the manufacturing of caustic white liquor. The Lime Kiln had been dismantled from another mill in Washington state and then shipped down and reassembled at Shasta.

The following photos depict the kiln unit being installed at the Shasta Mill in 1981.

Center photo depicts the old rail chip car dump and wood backstop which was removed during the kiln's installation. Thanks Jon for the photos.
